Annual Hip-Hop Expo Marks Sixteen Years as Longest Running Event of Its Kind
MIAMI, FL—April 2—The Miami Pro-Am Urban Arts Expo being held May 16-20, 2012 marks the hip-hop cultural event’s 16th year in existence and event organizers have announced an array of new partnerships.
2012 sponsors and partners include Glacéau vitaminwater®, Pro-Keds®, Fydelity, Wemerge.com, FameFamTV.com, Rip City International and ScratchVision, among others. Attendees can expect to see legendary hip-hop pioneers including DJ Scratch, Mixmaster Ice, Boogaloo Shrimp, Monie Love, Craig G, Rahiem and many others as they make their way to the various Pro-Am events, which include an MC Battle at The Stage (170 NE 38th Street Miami, FL 33137); DJ Battle at Scratch Miami (2 NE 40th Street Miami, FL 33137); and the screening party for The Bass that Ate Miami documentary at The Stage, as well as other events still to be announced.
The Pro-Am Main Event at Grand Central (697 N Miami Ave. Miami, FL 33136) will be held on Saturday, May 19 and will consist of the breakdancing competitions. Categories will be as follows: 1 vs. 1 Bboy; 1 vs. 1 BGirl; 3 vs. 3 Crew; Power Moves; and Pee Wee.
Early, general registration for the 2012 Pro-Am Urban Arts Expo is $60 before April 15, 2012 and now available at HIPHOPELEMENTS.COM. Those interested in registering for the breakdancing, MC, and/or DJ competitions may do so on the registration page. Student discounts for registration will be honored on-site for those with valid student identification.

About the Pro-Am Urban Arts Expo:
Founded in 1996 by Richard “Speedy Legs” Fernandez, who later partnered with DJ Trails, the Pro-Am Urban Arts Expo has been a staple in the hip-hop and breakdancing communities as the longest running hip-hop dance competition in the United States with an average, annual attendance of 2,500+. The five-day conference aims to provide a platform for hip-hop enthusiasts of any age, while exposing them to the true elements of the hip-hop culture—B-boys/B-girls, MCs, DJs and graffiti—through a host of panels, exhibitions, fashion shows, dance competitions and parties.
