BSG grew up with a heavy New York Influence listening to mix tapes when they were literally mix tapes. Throwing house parties, block parties, performing in clubs & mixing on internet radio, it became clear that his aspirations & goals were always attainable even when set high. Competing in the world famous DMC competition for 3 years aswell as travelling all over the Western World. Steve chose to step it up and take a different direction. With influences such as Funkmaster Flex, Ron G, Brucie B, Mister Vince, Mister Cee, Dj Clue, Dj Riz & Dj Sizzahands (CROOKLYN CLAN), Fatman Scoop and Notorious B.I.G. it was clear what he wanted to accomplish.
When Steve wasn’t on his turntables he could have been found at THE BEACH RECORDING STUDIO under the direction of LANNY WILLIAMSON who’s clients have included USHER, COOL AND DRE, NAS, BENNY KING & LITTLE RICHARD just too name a few. Steve has been climbing the ranks with his mixing skills, specialty blends and remixes as well as various mixtape series, his sounds that are heard in 7 CONTINENTS, 160 COUNTRIES & Distributed to over 20,000 Djs & Record pools, earning him worldwide attention and the moniker "ONE OF THE WORLDS BEST UP AND COMING DJS" Aswell as his HALF MAN HALF MACHINE "OPTIMUS GRIND" moniker. With his well-known iGrind campaign its clear that hard work and perseverance is paying off. Among mixtape features appearing in stores like Best Buy to Bodegas to Aldo WORLDWIDE, radio/club play & online attention Big Steve Gee has sparked the interest of industry professionals, all of which leads to his aspirations becoming reality.
